This sensor turns on your garden irrigation pump or solenoid valve when the soil is dry and turns off when there is enough moisture in the soil. The sensor head is buried in the ground at the depth where it is to measure and is connected to the base unit via a cable. Approximately 2 m of cable is supplied, but the sensor cable can be extended up to 20 m with normal 2-pin cable. The device is powered by a standard plug-in power supply (12 v/dc stabilized, > 130 mA, jack plug 3.5 mm). If the garden is to be watered only at certain times of the day or on certain days of the week, please plug a commercially available timer in front of the plug-in power supply unit and program it accordingly. When the soil moisture sensor gets power from the power supply, it will start working.

Function sequence:
After the operating voltage is switched on, the soil moisture is measured. If the soil is too dry, the connected pump is switched on for 18 - 30 minutes. If the soil is sufficiently moist, the device goes into "pause" for approx. 18 - 30 minutes and then makes a new measurement. This then continues as an endless loop until the operating voltage is switched off.
