Solar systems are used in many areas of private households. This leads to the conclusion that also solar accumulators should be reliable. These accumulators are available with different capacities and are produced in different designs.The battery's performance depends on the solar systems which supplies it. Small batteries with 12V 30Ah are available as well as stronger ones with nearly 300Ah. If only a TV in a camper is to be supplied a small system with a small or medium sized battery is sufficient. This way every customer is able to store the produced energy. A solar accumulator is a convenient item, especially where no connection to the public power grid exists.
Accumulators of different design and with different filling
Customers can decide between different types of batteries with different filling. The most common are lead-acid batteries, which have being used for vehicles for a long time. A lead-acid battery is relatively reasonable and made for low or medium loads. However, these accumulators need to be maintained regularly, which means that the acid level needs to be checked.
Another solar accumulator would be the AMG lead-accumulator, which is absolutely maintenance-free. This battery is leaking-proof and has a longer life span. Such a solar battery can take a much higher power input - up to 300Ah. The third common battery type is a solar accumulator with lead-gel filling which meets even highest technical demands.
Which solar accumulator is needed?
As batteries are produced with different capacities customers have to decide according to the required power. Like in a car with only a few consumers a battery of smaller capacity will be sufficient. When there are more consumers like a strong sound system, a GPS or other equipment the consumption is much higher. The same situation occurs when a solar battery supplies different consumers.
A TV or a sound system do not need as much power as lighting or kitchen equipment. The choice between maintenance-free batteries or older types is up to the customer who should consider the battery's life span.
