The LAPP UNITRONIC LiYY 10x0.25 (MPN: 0028310) is a flexible, 10-conductor low-frequency data cable with a conductor cross-sectional area of 0.25 mm² per conductor. It is designed for the transmission of data and signals at machine interfaces, as well as for control, regulation, and measurement circuits. The fine-stranded bare copper conductors and the flexible PVC construction allow for both fixed installation and applications involving occasional movement. Data and signal transmission in the low-frequency range
The UNITRONIC LiYY series from LAPP is specifically designed for low-frequency data and signal applications. Typical areas of application include machine interfaces as well as control, regulation, and measurement circuits. It is also intended for use in computer systems, measurement and control technology, office equipment, and scales. With a total of ten conductors, the 0028310 variant allows multiple signals to be transmitted through a single cable. Each conductor has a cross-sectional area of 0.25 mm². The conductors are stranded in layers and can be distinguished by their colors in accordance with DIN 47100, which simplifies the assignment of individual conductors during installation and connection. The product-specific specifications on page 3 of the current product information confirm the 10-conductor configuration and a nominal outer diameter of 6.8 mm.
Flexible PVC construction for various installation methods
The ten conductors consist of fine-stranded, bare copper. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is used for both the conductor insulation and the gray outer jacket. A protective conductor is not included. Additionally, the UNITRONIC LiYY 10x0.25 is unshielded, which should be taken into account when selecting it for applications with specific requirements regarding electromagnetic interference. The flexible construction allows for both fixed installation and occasional movement. For fixed installation, the minimum bending radius is four times the outer diameter, or 27.2 mm. For applications involving occasional movement, a minimum of ten times the outer diameter, or 68 mm, must be maintained.
Specified Temperature Ranges and Flame-Retardant Design
For permanent installation, the UNITRONIC LiYY 10x0.25 is rated for temperatures ranging from -40 °C to +80 °C. For applications involving occasional movement, the specified temperature range is -5 °C to +70 °C. Thus, the cable covers a variety of operating conditions within suitable installation environments. The cable is flame-retardant in accordance with IEC 60332-1-2 and is classified as CPR fire class Eca. The cable also bears the CE marking and has EAC certification. However, a flame-retardancy test according to UN/ECE-R118 is expressly indicated as “No” for variant 0028310.
Important Selection Notes
The data cable is not UV-resistant, not oil-resistant, and not halogen-free. For outdoor use, oil-contaminated environments, or applications requiring halogen-free cables, a suitably designed alternative should therefore be selected. This version also lacks shielding. Before use, you should therefore verify whether the specific application requires a shielded data cable.
