The LAPP UNITRONIC LiYY 4x0.34 (MPN: 0028404) is a flexible, 4-conductor low-frequency data cable with a conductor cross-sectional area of 0.34 mm² per conductor. It is designed for the transmission of data and signals at machine interfaces, as well as for control, regulation, and measurement circuits. Fine-stranded bare copper conductors and the flexible PVC construction allow for both fixed installation and applications involving occasional movement. The individual wires are color-coded according to DIN 47100. The cable is intended for use in dry and damp environments.

Data transmission for machinery and control systems

The UNITRONIC LiYY series from LAPP is designed for low-frequency data and signal applications. Machine interfaces, as well as control, regulation, and measurement circuits, are considered primary areas of application. Applications in, for example, computing systems, measurement and control technology, office equipment, and scales are also intended. The 0028404 version combines four conductors, each with a cross-sectional area of 0.34 mm², in a round, unshielded cable with a nominal outer diameter of 4.8 mm. Color coding in accordance with DIN 47100 allows the individual conductors to be clearly distinguished during connection and installation. The fine-stranded conductor construction also facilitates flexible handling during installation.

For fixed installation and occasional movement

The construction, consisting of fine-stranded copper conductors, PVC conductor insulation, and a PVC outer jacket, allows for various installation methods. The cable can be installed in a fixed layout or used in applications involving occasional movement. Depending on the installation method, different minimum bending radii must be observed. For fixed installation, the specified minimum bending radius is four times the outer diameter, or 19.2 mm. For applications involving occasional movement, the minimum bending radius is ten times the outer diameter, or 48 mm.

PVC Construction and Specified Operating Conditions

Both the insulation of the individual conductors and the gray outer jacket are made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC). This version does not include a ground conductor. Furthermore, it is an unshielded data cable. These characteristics should be taken into account, particularly when selecting cables for environments prone to interference. For fixed installation, the specified temperature range is -40 °C to +80 °C. For applications involving occasional movement, the permissible range is -5 °C to +70 °C. The cable is flame-retardant in accordance with IEC 60332-1-2 and is classified as CPR fire class Eca.

Important Selection Notes

The data cable is not UV-resistant, not oil-resistant, and not halogen-free. Accordingly, it should be verified prior to use whether the respective environmental conditions require these properties. For outdoor applications or in areas with corresponding chemical, thermal, or electromagnetic requirements, a cable with different specifications may be necessary. The cable is intended for the transmission of data and signals.
