The LAPP UNITRONIC LiYY 2x0.5 (MPN: 0028502) is a flexible, 2-conductor low-frequency data cable with a conductor cross-sectional area of 0.5 mm² each. It is designed for the transmission of data and signals at machine interfaces, as well as for control, regulation, and measurement circuits. Fine-stranded bare copper conductors and the flexible PVC construction allow for both fixed installation and applications involving occasional movement. The individual conductors are color-coded according to DIN 47100. The cable is intended for use in dry and damp environments.

Data transmission for machinery and control systems
The UNITRONIC LiYY series from LAPP is designed for low-frequency data and signal applications. Typical applications include machine interfaces as well as control, regulation, and measurement circuits. It is also intended for use in, for example, computer systems, measurement and control technology, office equipment, and scales. The 0028502 version combines two conductors, each with a cross-sectional area of 0.5 mm², in a round, unshielded cable with a nominal outer diameter of 4.7 mm. Color-coded conductor identification in accordance with DIN 47100 allows the individual conductors to be distinguished during connection and installation. The fine-stranded construction made of bare copper also facilitates flexible handling during installation.
For fixed installation and occasional movement
The construction, consisting of fine-stranded copper conductors, PVC conductor insulation, and a PVC outer jacket, allows for various installation methods. The cable can be installed permanently or used in applications involving occasional movement. Depending on the installation method, different minimum bending radii must be observed. For permanent installation, LAPP specifies four times the outer diameter, or 18.8 mm. For applications involving occasional movement, the minimum bend radius is ten times the outer diameter, or 47 mm.
PVC Construction and Specified Operating Conditions
Both the insulation of the individual conductors and the gray outer jacket are made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC). This version does not include a protective conductor. Furthermore, it is an unshielded data cable. For applications with special requirements regarding electromagnetic interference, it should therefore be determined whether a shielded cable is required. For fixed installation, the temperature range is -40 °C to +80 °C. For applications involving occasional movement, the permissible range is -5 °C to +70 °C. The cable is flame-retardant in accordance with IEC 60332-1-2 and is classified as CPR fire class Eca.
Important Selection Notes
According to current product information, the data cable is not UV-resistant, not oil-resistant, and not halogen-free. Accordingly, before use, it should be verified whether the respective environmental conditions impose special requirements on these properties. The cable is intended for the transmission of data and signals in the low-frequency range. The number of conductors, conductor cross-section, and cable type should therefore be selected based on the electrical and mechanical requirements of the respective installation.
