Data and signal transmission in the low-frequency range

This series is designed for low-frequency data and signal applications. Typical areas of application include machine interfaces as well as control, regulation, and measurement circuits. The 0028604 version features four conductors, each with a cross-sectional area of 0.75 mm². This distinguishes it within the UNITRONIC LiYY family, particularly due to its comparatively larger cross-sectional area while maintaining a compact 4-conductor design. The individual conductors are stranded in layers and can be clearly distinguished by their colors in accordance with DIN 47100.

Fine-stranded construction for fixed and occasionally movable installations

Each of the four conductors consists of fine-stranded, bare copper. Both the conductor insulation and the gray outer jacket are made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC). This variant does not include a protective conductor. The cable is also unshielded and should therefore only be used where no additional electrical shielding is required. For fixed installation, LAPP specifies a minimum bending radius of four times the outer diameter. For a nominal outer diameter of 6.1 mm, this corresponds to 24.4 mm. For cables subject to occasional movement, the minimum bending radius is ten times the outer diameter, or 61 mm. These values must be taken into account, particularly in confined installation spaces and when planning cable routes.

Temperature Range and Fire Behavior

For fixed installations, the data cable is designed for a temperature range of -40 °C to +80 °C. For applications involving occasional movement, the range is -5 °C to +70 °C. The cable is flame-retardant in accordance with IEC 60332-1-2 and is classified as fire class Eca under the CPR. Important Selection Notes

LAPP specifies that the UNITRONIC LiYY 4x0.75 is not UV-resistant, not oil-resistant, and not halogen-free. For outdoor applications, use in oil-contaminated areas, or applications requiring halogen-free cables, a suitable alternative version must therefore be selected. This cable also lacks shielding. If data or signal transmission is to take place in an environment with specific requirements for electromagnetic immunity, it should be verified before selection whether a shielded data cable is necessary.
