The 3-meter-long professional connection cable from Offgridtec (MPN: HM-95GD-Z587) is a pre-assembled, 2-wire connection cable for connecting solar modules to a solar charge controller. The module end features original Multi-Contact MC4 connectors, while the cable ends on the charge controller side are prepared for stripping. MC4 connectors for protected PV connections
When mated, the MC4 connectors have an IP67 protection rating. This means the connector is protected against dust and against temporary submersion under the test conditions defined for IP67. When unmated, the rating is IP2X. The snap-in locking system mechanically secures the connector, while the cable strain relief is designed in accordance with IEC 61984. The contacts consist of tinned copper and an MC contact lamella system. The specified operating temperature range for the connectors is -40 to +90 °C, and the system voltage is up to 1000 V.
Flexible and Durable Solar Cable
The double-insulated cable is flexible and, according to product specifications, resistant to UV radiation, ozone, weather, and water. In addition, the cable exhibits high resistance to chemicals and oil. These properties are particularly relevant for PV applications, where cables may be exposed to varying environmental conditions. The cable complies with VDE 0295 Class 5 and IEC 60228, as well as fire resistance standards per VDE 0482-332-2.
Compatibility
The cable is designed to connect a solar module with an MC4 connector to a solar charge controller with a suitable receptacle for a conductor cross-section of at least 4 mm². Before purchasing, you should check, in particular, which connector system is used on the solar module and what conductor cross-sections the respective charge controller can accommodate at its PV inputs. For modules with a different connector system, a corresponding adapter is required. The electrical suitability of the 3-m/4-mm² version must also be compatible with the respective PV system, including its current, voltage, and wiring configuration.
