The bmv 712 Smart from victron Energy (mpn bam030712200) is the latest battery computer in the bmv family. It provides precise data on parameters such as battery voltage, current, power, ampere hours consumed, state of charge and remaining time at the current discharge rate. The measurement resolution is very accurate and precise compared to similar products. In addition, it is equipped with an integrated Bluetooth module that allows you to access many functions and status reports of the battery computer via the free victronConnect app.

No other components are required. also included is a separate front bezel for a square or round display, a safety ring for rear mounting and screws for front mounting.

Low self consumption
The current consumption of the bmv is only 0.7 ah per month (1 ma) at 12 v and 0.6 ah per month (0.8 ma) at 24 v. In particular, lithium-ion batteries have almost no capacity left when they are discharged to the point of shutdown due to low voltage. After shutdown due to low voltage, the reserve capacity of a lithium-ion battery is approximately 1 ah per 1000 ah of battery capacity. The battery will be damaged if the remaining reserve capacity is drawn from the battery. For example, a residual current of 10 ma can damage a 200 ah battery if the system is left in a discharged state for over 8 days.
midpoint voltage monitoring
One damaged cell or battery can destroy an entire large, expensive battery bank. When batteries are connected in series, measuring the midpoint voltage can provide a timely warning. Please also refer to the bmv manual, section 5.2 for more information.
victron recommends the Battery Balancer (bms012201000) to maximize the life of lead-acid batteries connected in series.
