Victron Cyrix-Li-Load 12/24V-120A

The Cyrix Li-Load 12/24V-120A battery coupler from Victron Energy (MPN CYR010120450) for 12V and 24V LiFePO4 batteries. It can operate at a maximum current of 120A and is, among other things, an ideal addition to the VE.Bus BMS as a battery switch for loads that the VE.Bus BMS cannot switch independently.

Function of Cyrix battery couplers in general

The Cyrix Li-Load 12/24V-120A is a high-performance microprocessor-controlled relay which automatically connects batteries in parallel when one of them has reached a specified voltage value (indicating that the battery is being charged) and disconnects the batteries again when the voltage drops below the maintenance voltage value (indicating that one or both batteries are currently being discharged). Cyrix battery couplers are ideal for replacing isolating diodes. Their main feature is that there is virtually no voltage loss, so there is no need to increase the output voltage of the alternators or battery chargers.

How the Cyrix Li-Load 12/24V 120A works

The Cyrix Li-Load 12/24V 120A switches off when its control input reaches the "free floating" (open circuit) state. When the battery voltage recovers after shutdown (this happens when no other loads are connected to the battery), the BMS output goes high and the Cyrix switches back on after 30 seconds. After 3 attempts to switch on, the Cyrix remains switched off until the voltage has risen above 13 V (or 26 V or 52 V) for at least 30 seconds (this is an indication that the battery is being recharged).

Cyrix Li-Load as the perfect complement to VE.Bus BMS

A central component of the protective measures for Victron LiFePO4 batteries is the VE.Bus BMS. However, not all loads or chargers can be controlled directly via the VE.Bus BMS. Several VE.Bus BMS-controllable Cyrix switches are available to switch off such loads or chargers.
