Function of the Cyrix battery coupler in general
The victron Cyrix-Li-Load 24/48v-230a is a high-performance microprocessor-controlled relay that automatically connects batteries in parallel when one of them has reached a pre-set voltage value (indicating that the battery is being charged) and disconnects the batteries again when the voltage drops below the float voltage value (indicating that one or both batteries are being discharged). Cyrix battery couplers are ideal for replacing isolating diodes. Their main feature is that there is virtually no voltage loss, so there is no need to increase the output voltage of the alternators or battery chargers.
Mode of operation of the Cyrix-Li-Load 12/24v 230a
The Cyrix-Li-Load 24/48v 230a switches off when its control input reaches the "free floating" state (open circuit). When the battery voltage recovers after switching off (this happens when no other loads are connected to the battery), the output of the bms goes high and the Cyrix switches on again after 30 seconds. After 3 attempts to switch on, the Cyrix remains switched off until the voltage has risen above 13 v (or 26 v or 52 v) for at least 30 seconds (this is an indication that the battery is being recharged).
