The Victron Shunt 2000A - 50mV (MPN SHU202050200) is required for current meters with analog or digital display instruments, as these are usually realized via a measurement of a very small voltage at a shunt. In the case of the Victron Shunts 1000A - 6000A, this is 50mV. The smaller the measurement voltage at the shunts, the less impact there is on the rest of the system's circuit. At 50mV, this provides an excellent value.
The shunt is installed in the circuit with the current to be measured. The small voltage drop across this resistor is evaluated with a measuring device such as the Victron BMV 700 battery monitor, and values such as the current flow are derived and displayed.
