Victron temperature sensor for BMV-712 Smart and BMV-702 battery monitors

The Victron Energy temperature sensor (MPN ASS000100000) can be used with the BMV-702, BMV-712 battery monitors and the VE.Bus Smart Dongle. The two-wire cable has a temperature sensor encapsulated in a ring nut.
The ring terminal is connected to the positive terminal of the battery to be monitored, the red cable end—with the integrated fuse—is connected to terminal B1 on the measuring resistor, and the black cable end is connected to terminal B2.

Notes:

Connection B2 on the measuring resistor is generally available for basic monitoring of a second battery (starter battery), for center voltage monitoring, or for temperature monitoring. Only one of these three options can be used; multiple use is not possible. The measured temperature can be displayed on the monitor in degrees Celsius or degrees Fahrenheit.
The temperature measurement can also be used to adjust the available battery capacity according to the battery temperature. The available battery capacity decreases as the battery temperature drops. Compared to the capacity of a battery at 20°C, the capacity at 0°C drops by 18% and at -20°C by as much as 40%. The battery computer takes this into account in its calculations so that the monitor always displays the exact capacity at any battery temperature.
