The VCC 1212-70 from Votronic (3362) is a fully automatic, non-isolated battery charging converter designed for special-purpose vehicles, high-end motorhomes, and boats. The charging converter (booster) of the “VCC” series has been developed in accordance with the latest specifications for the mobile charging of service batteries (living area/on-board batteries) from the alternator (starter battery) while driving. The device ensures a full IU1oU2 charging characteristic curve even while driving. The maximum charging current of the VCC 1212-70 is 70A, and it is compatible with lead-acid, gel, AGM1, AGM2, and LiFePO4 batteries. This device charges a 12V battery from a 12V battery or alternator.

Unlike a conventional isolating relay, the charging voltage is lowered or raised according to the charging program settings, making it particularly well-suited for Euro 6 and Euro 6+ vehicles.

Versatile all-rounder

For on-board batteries using classic lead-acid, lead-gel, or lead-AGM technology, as well as modern lithium LiFePO4 technology, the 8 selectable charging programs ensure a monitoring-free, rapid, and gentle full charge from any state of charge, followed by full maintenance and care of the battery. Even during short trips, the battery is charged at full charging current. Connected 12 V loads are automatically supplied with power, even when the on-board electrical system is heavily loaded. Automatic power control ensures the necessary safety and starting capability of the vehicle.

  • The VCC 1212-70 is a B2B charger without galvanic isolation for charging 12V batteries from a 12V alternator/battery.

Charging aid for deeply discharged lead-acid batteries: Gentle pre-charging of the (lead-acid, gel, AGM) battery up to 8 V, followed by powerful support for the battery if any loads are still active.

What added value does using a B2B charge converter offer me?

The charge converters ensure optimal and rapid charging of the service battery from the alternator while driving. Unlike a simple isolating relay, the charging voltage is raised to the level required for a full charge of the respective battery type and specified by the battery manufacturers. This allows the full charging current to flow, delivering significant amounts of power to the battery in a short time. Long charging cables and losses, as well as voltage fluctuations at the alternator, are neatly compensated for. With charging converters featuring different input and output voltages (12V/24V or 24V/12V), it is possible to easily charge a second battery even without installing a second alternator.
