Votronic VCC 1212-30 CI 12/12 V 30 A B2B Charging Converter 3360
€175.47*
The Votronic VCC 1212-30 CI (MPN: 3360) is a compact B2B charging converter for vehicles with a 12-V starter and 12-V electrical system. It charges the service battery while driving at up to 30 A and compensates for voltage fluctuations from the alternator. This makes it suitable for motorhomes, specialty vehicles, and boats, as well as for vehicles equipped with smart alternators compliant with Euro 6 and Euro 6+ standards. The converter operates without galvanic isolation. Cable cross-sections, cable lengths, fuses, and ground connections must be selected in accordance with the installation instructions and the specific installation situation.
Key Benefits
- Regulated charging current up to 30 A for 12-V onboard batteries
- Two charging programs for gel/AGM batteries and two for LiFePO4 batteries
- Operation with smart alternators via D+ control
- CI-BUS interface for integration into compatible on-board management systems
- Temperature monitoring with included battery temperature sensor
- Maintenance charging of the starter battery via a trickle charge circuit with up to 1.8 A
- Protection against short circuits, reverse discharge, overvoltage, and overtemperature
Battery-dependent IU1oU2 charging
The charging converter steps up or down the input voltage to the level required by the onboard battery. The regulated IU1oU2 charging mode includes main charging, full charging, and trickle charging. When 12-V loads are simultaneously active, it supplies power to the vehicle electrical system and directs the remaining current to the battery. Two different charging profiles are available for gel and AGM batteries. Two additional programs are provided for 12-V LiFePO4 complete batteries with an integrated battery management system, balancing, and protective circuitry. The selected charging program must comply with the charging specifications of the battery in use.
Temperature Monitoring and Automatic Power Control
The included 825 temperature sensor measures the temperature of the vehicle battery. For gel and AGM batteries, the device automatically adjusts the charging voltage to the battery temperature. For LiFePO4 batteries, the monitoring feature provides protection against high and low temperatures. The connected temperature sensor is mandatory for LiFePO4 charging program 3. Automatic power control takes the voltage in the starter circuit into account. If this voltage drops below the specified threshold, the charging converter reduces its output power. This relieves the load on the starter circuit. In the event of overheating, the charging power is gradually reduced; a safety shutdown feature is also available.
Integration into the Vehicle and On-Board Management System
Activation can be performed either via the vehicle’s D+ signal or, in the case of suitable conventional alternators, via voltage control. D+ control is intended for Euro 6/Euro 6+ vehicles with smart alternators, for long supply cables, and when combined with EBL or EVS. Relevant operating data can be displayed on a compatible central vehicle display via the CI-BUS connection. Integration must be performed by the vehicle manufacturer, installation partner, or system integrator. Additionally, a display connection is provided for the optionally available LED Remote Control S or LCD Charge Control S-VCC. These remote controls can be used to temporarily limit the maximum charging current from 30 A to 20 A.
