Do I need a current transformer?

The current transformer measures the actual grid current and is required for functions such as grid parallel operation with power return or proper power limiting on your MultiPlus-II. If your system operates purely in off-grid mode, without grid power return or power limiting, you generally do not need it.

Do I need a temperature sensor?

The temperature sensor is compatible with MultiPlus, Quattro, and GX units and ensures temperature-compensated charging of your battery. This is especially beneficial if your battery is located in an unheated garage, a utility room with fluctuating temperatures, or an outdoor cabinet—it helps extend the battery’s lifespan and prevents overcharging or undercharging in cold or hot weather.

• Do I absolutely need a current transformer for my MultiPlus-II?

  Only if you want to use features such as grid parallel operation with power backfeed or power limiting. It is not required for standalone operation.

• What cable length should I choose for the current transformer?

  Measure the distance between your meter or feed-in point and the MultiPlus-II, and choose the closest matching length so you don’t have to add an extension.

• Is the temperature sensor only compatible with the MultiPlus?

  No, it also works with Victron Energy’s Quattro and GX devices.

• How do I connect the temperature sensor?

  It is attached directly to the battery and connected via a cable to the corresponding port on your MultiPlus, Quattro, or GX unit.
