Retrofit via Plug & Play

Installing the fothermo photovoltaic heating element is a breeze. Simply screw the photovoltaic heating element into the standard 1.5"-flange of your existing hot water tank and connect the PV modules in parallel using simple plug-and-play MC4 connectors. The heating process begins immediately, and since there is no complicated wiring and the voltage level is below 50 V, no electrician is needed for the installation. The heating elements can also be easily combined with the fothermo switch-over unit (MPN: SWD-1600). The water in the boiler is then heated primarily from top to bottom, and excess energy is fed into the home’s electrical grid via the micro-PV inverter connected to the switching device.

Solar-Powered Hot Water

Especially in the summer, retrofitting your system allows you to do without inefficient gas or oil heaters for hot water production. Instead, you can enjoy a shower heated by the sun and help reduce CO2 emissions. Thanks to the innovative MPP tracker, you also ensure 50% higher yields and get the maximum output from your PV modules even in poor weather conditions. The heating element allows for the connection of up to 2,000 Wp of photovoltaic power, while the maximum heating output is 500 W. This means that the hot water needs of a two-person household during the summer months can be almost entirely met at a maximum water temperature of 65°C in drinking water systems or 85°C in descaled heating systems.
