Hybrid Inverter
Unlike conventional inverters, hybrid inverters offer the option of not only feeding the generated solar power into the grid but also storing it in batteries. This allows the stored solar power to be used even when the sun isn’t shining. Another feature of hybrid inverters is their ability to optimize a household’s electricity consumption by prioritizing the direct use of generated solar power within the home before feeding it into the grid. This leads to lower energy costs and reduced dependence on expensive grid electricity.
Operating Modes – Configurable Depending on System Requirements
Online Mode
Various operating modes can be set to ensure optimal system integration of the SPH inverter. When configured directly on the device, a priority mode can only be set for a single time period. When using the online platform, up to three time periods can be set for the priority mode (a paid accessory is required to use this feature).
- Load First:In the standard “Load First” mode, the connected loads (consumers) are supplied with power first. As soon as the PV energy is sufficient for the load, the excess energy is fed into the battery. If the battery is fully charged or none is connected, the remaining energy is fed into the grid.
- Battery first:In this mode, the inverter first fully charges the battery using the maximum possible solar power. If the PV power is insufficient, the grid charging function can also be activated.
- Grid first:In this mode, the generated PV energy is first fed into the grid. Here, you can set the mode’s on and off times, as well as the power rate.
Backup Mode:
If no grid voltage is present at the device—for example, due to a brief power outage or blackout—the Growatt SPH automatically switches to backup mode. This ensures power is supplied to the AC output via the EPS-LOAD connection. The required power is supplied solely by the solar system and the battery. If the PV system also fails, the battery maintains the AC supply until it is fully discharged. If necessary, the automatic switch to this mode can also be disabled.
Maximum Power Point Tracking
By using Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) technology, a solar system can achieve optimal output. The MIC inverter is equipped with an MPPT that adjusts the optimal ratio of voltage to current throughout the day based on solar irradiance and the temperature of the solar modules. With its wide MPPT voltage range, many solar modules can be connected, enabling efficient energy generation. This advantage is particularly evident when the sky is partly cloudy and light intensity is constantly changing.
Smart Load Management
The inverter’s integrated smart load control enables precise and efficient management of energy consumption. By using a potential-free contact, electrical loads can be controlled intelligently and prioritized. This feature allows for automatic detection of energy demand and optimal utilization of available energy. Smart load management ensures optimal energy distribution and thus contributes to efficient use. With smart load control via the dry contact, the inverter is able to optimize the energy flow and ensure efficient operation of your solar system.
Growatt Monitoring Platform
By using the optional Shine Series accessories, you can access the Growatt Monitoring Platform. This platform is available both as a smartphone app for iOS and Android and as a web version. The Shine accessories must be purchased separately, but use of the platform is free of charge. Through Shine, you can configure and monitor all your Growatt products, and it also allows you to view your self-consumption and track trends.
The following Shine options are compatible with the SPH Series:
- ShineWiFi-X
- ShineLink-X
- Shine4G-X
- ShineMaster

Note on Using Growatt Inverters with Batteries
Please note that inverters from the MIN, MOD, SPH, and SPA series may only be operated with genuine Growatt batteries. None of the Growatt inverters sold in Europe are compatible with lead-acid batteries. Using them with lead-acid batteries may result in malfunctions or damage to the devices. Furthermore, no warranty claims can be made.
