For assembling photovoltaic cables
MC4 connectors are now among the most widely used connection systems in photovoltaic installations. They are used to securely connect solar modules, extension cables, or connection cables to one another. This set is suitable for solar cables with a conductor cross-section of 4 to 6 mm² and enables a durable, high-load-capacity connection in the DC range. The integrated snap-in locking system prevents accidental disconnection of the connector and, together with the sealing elements, ensures high resistance to moisture, dust, and weather conditions.
Original Stäubli MC4 System
This product consists of original MC4 connectors from Stäubli. The MC4 system is one of the most widely used connector systems for photovoltaic systems worldwide and meets the requirements of the relevant standards for PV connectors. The contacts are made of tinned copper and utilize the proven MC contact lamella system, which is designed to ensure a permanently secure electrical connection and low contact resistance.
Installation Instructions
The connectors are designed for crimping. To ensure a connection that complies with standards and remains reliable over time, the manufacturer recommends using suitable crimping tools and installation tools. After crimping, the contact and cable are inserted into the connector housing until they audibly click into place. The cable gland is then tightened, which simultaneously provides strain relief and a seal. The detailed installation sequence is described in the Stäubli installation manual.
Compatibility
The connector set is designed for photovoltaic cables with a conductor cross-section of 4 to 6 mm². When selecting a cable, consider not only the conductor cross-section but also the permissible outer cable diameter to ensure that the seal and strain relief function correctly. Original MC4 connectors should be used and installed exclusively in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications to ensure the specified electrical and mechanical properties.
