Offgridtec’s Solar Direct turnkey systems offer a practical way to generate part of your household’s electricity needs yourself and thereby reduce your electricity costs. The system includes four Trina Solar Vertex S+ solar modules, each with a power output of 470 W and a total module power of 1,880 Wp, a Hoymiles HMS-1600-4T microinverter with an output power of 1,600 VA, a DTU-Lite-S data transmission unit for system monitoring, and the listed connection and wiring cables. The solar modules can be mounted side by side if space permits and a suitable mounting structure is available.
How does the Solar-Direct PV system work?
The Offgridtec Solar-Direct PV system generates direct current (DC) using four solar modules. The Hoymiles HMS-1600-4T microinverter converts this into grid-compliant alternating current (AC), which is fed into the home’s electrical system and can be used by connected appliances. If the solar energy generated is insufficient, the additional electricity demand continues to be met by the public power grid.
When properly installed, the inverter can be mounted to the module substructure. The solar modules are connected to the inverter via the provided DC connectors. The AC-side integration into the home’s electrical system is achieved through a suitable, professionally installed connection solution. The existing electrical installation and connection conditions must be checked in advance.
Important Installation Note: The system has a rated inverter output of 1,600 VA and is not intended for independent commissioning by plugging it into a standard household outlet. The grid connection and commissioning must be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with applicable electrical regulations and technical connection requirements. The included AC connection cable does not replace a professional inspection and installation of the grid connection.
The Solar Direct Complete System includes:
- 4x Trina Solar 470W Vertex S+ double-glass N-type i-TopCon solar modules
- 1x Hoymiles HMS-1600-4T microinverter
- 1x Hoymiles DTU-Lite-S Wi-Fi data transmission unit for HMT/HMS
- A DTU Pro-S (not included) may be required instead of the DTU-Lite-S for additional setup and configuration options. The available functions depend on the specific system configuration.
- 1x Hoymiles HMS connection cable, 3x1.5 mm², 10 m
- 4x MC4-to-MC4 connection cables, 6 mm², 2 m

Installation and Grid Connection in Germany
The Solar-Direct PV system has a nominal PV power of 1,880 Wp and a nominal inverter output power of 1,600 VA. This exceeds the 800 VA inverter power limit applicable to simplified plug-and-play solar systems. It must therefore be installed as a grid-connected photovoltaic system in accordance with applicable technical regulations and connection requirements.
Connection to the home electrical system and commissioning must be performed by a qualified electrician. The electrician will inspect the existing electrical installation and ensure a suitable, standards-compliant connection solution. This system is not designed for self-commissioning via a standard household outlet.
The system must be registered in accordance with applicable legal requirements and the requirements of the responsible grid operator. This includes, in particular, registration in the Federal Network Agency’s market master data registry.
