Offgridtec’s complete balcony power plant systems (MPN 016030) are an ideal way to generate some of your household electricity yourself and significantly reduce your overall electricity costs. In addition to two 450W bifacial solar modules and a matching micro-inverter, the systems include everything needed to connect to your home’s electrical grid and, if necessary, to mount the modules on your balcony railing or roof. The set is designed for side-by-side module installation. Our support team is available to assist you with advice and guidance on custom installation options for the modules.

How does a balcony power plant work?

The Offgridtec balcony power plant is a compact solar system. It consists of a solar module and the matching Hoymiles micro-inverter for feeding electricity into your home’s power grid. The inverter is ideally mounted directly on the solar module’s mounting frame and connected to the solar module via the solar connector. The AC cable is connected via the inverter’s battery port and routed directly to the appropriate outlet. Here, you can choose between connecting to a standard GFCI outlet or a Wieland feed-in outlet, which is included in the scope of delivery if selected.
No special settings are required to use the generated solar power in the home’s electrical grid. If electricity from local sources is already available, household appliances will use this first and then supplement it with grid power as needed.

The Balcony Power Plant Complete System includes:

Luxen Solar 450W Full Black Solar Module

The Luxen Solar Luxneri N5 series 450W Full Black bifacial solar module (MPN LNDX-450ND) sets new standards in solar technology. It combines innovative technologies such as LECO N-TOPCon cell technology and a 96-cell half-cut layout to maximize efficiency. It also utilizes SMBB half-cut cell technology, which helps optimize performance.

The monocrystalline module also impresses with excellent anti-PID and low LID performance values, as well as high hotspot resistance. Thanks to its stylish full-black design, it is ideal for installation in solar systems on residential buildings, balcony power plants, and many other applications.

  • LECO N-TOPCon cell technology
  • SMBB Half-Cut Cell Technology
  • Low BOS & LCOE
  • Bifacial cell module technology
  • Outstanding anti-PID and low LID performance
  • Reduced risk of hotspots
  • 3 bypass diodes - minimized power loss under shading

Balcony power plants in Germany

Currently, there is no law or regulation in Germany governing the generation of solar power for personal use only. The limit of a maximum of 800W AC PV output is a reserve value that, according to the current VDE standard, can be fed into an existing outlet circuit in a home without overloading it. There are no specifications for independent circuits without additional load.
Every electrical installation should be carried out in accordance with VDE standards. However, operating a balcony power plant via a standard Schuko outlet is not generally prohibited. Registration with the Federal Network Agency is mandatory. However, there are currently no known cases of fines for failure to register balcony power plants, nor are there any insurmountable issues with grid operators. Compliance with and implementation of standards and obligations is the responsibility of the system operator. A wealth of technical and legal information on this topic is already available on relevant websites.
