Pylontech SC1000-100S Control Unit for PowerCube H1/H2

The SC1000-100S control unit from Pylontech (MPN: SC1000-100S) is the central battery control module for PowerCube-H1 and PowerCube-H2 high-voltage storage systems with H48050 and H48074 battery modules, respectively. The batteries are connected in series to form a battery tower with a control unit. If multiple towers are to be connected in parallel, one control unit is required per tower. It performs central control, communication, and protection functions within the battery system and operates within a voltage range of 200 to 1000 V DC. CAN, RS485, and RS232 interfaces, among others, are available for integration into the overall system.

Control and Communication in the Battery System

The unit serves as the central control level of a compatible PowerCube battery string. The control unit is located between the battery cells and the external communication and power interfaces. Among other things, it processes information from the battery modules and establishes the connection to higher-level system components. CAN and RS485 are available for communication. CAN is used for communication between the battery system and the inverter or PCS, while RS485 is based on the Modbus RTU protocol. An RS232 interface is provided for diagnostic and service purposes by the manufacturer or qualified technical personnel.

Operation, Status Display, and Control Signals

In addition to the main switch and start button, the front panel features several connections and controls. LED indicators provide information on the operating status, alarm and protection status, and the state of charge (SOC) of the battery system. Furthermore, the SC1000-100S is equipped with potential-free contacts. Four outputs and two inputs are available. The outputs can provide signals for charge stop, discharge stop, errors, and current limiting. One of the inputs is intended for internal use; the second can be used as an external wake-up or emergency stop signal. Address assignment within corresponding system configurations is performed via the integrated ADD DIP switches. This is particularly relevant for systems with multiple battery strings or a higher-level control system.

Installation and Safe Operation

The PowerCube H1/H2 is a high-voltage DC battery system. It may only be installed and operated by qualified and authorized technical personnel. The control unit is mounted together with the battery modules in the designated rack. Before commissioning, power and communication connections as well as the addressing must be checked. In addition, a defined power-on and power-off sequence is specified for the entire system. These specifications must be observed during installation, commissioning, and maintenance.
