The TAB e.module L5.1 lithium battery module (MPN: 1026194) is a modular low-voltage energy storage system with a rated capacity of 5.12 kWh and a rated voltage of 51.2 V for TAB energy storage systems. The module is based on lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) technology, features an integrated battery management system, and offers two communication interfaces: CAN and RS485. Lithium iron phosphate technology and battery management

For the e.module L5.1, TAB relies on lithium iron phosphate cells. This cell technology is characterized by its excellent thermal stability, long cycle life, and high performance. The module is designed for use as a central component within TAB’s energy storage platforms. The integrated battery management system (BMS) plays a key role. Among other things, the BMS monitors the cells’ temperature, current, voltage, state of charge (SoC), and state of health (SoH). This ensures that key operating parameters are continuously recorded and monitored. TAB develops both the BMS and the associated software in-house.

Modular Design for Scalable Storage Capacities

The battery was developed as a modular component for energy storage systems. This allows the total capacity of a system to be adapted to specific energy requirements by combining multiple modules. For the standard LV system architecture, scalability up to 32 modules—or approximately 164 kWh—is provided. Larger multi-cluster systems are also planned via the TAB-LV-HUB architecture. The modular design is thus suitable both for an initial configuration tailored to specific needs and for concepts in which multiple storage modules are to be operated together.

Communication via CAN and RS485

CAN and RS485 interfaces are available for integration into the storage system. They enable the battery module to communicate with compatible system components. In particular, communication between the battery storage system and the inverter or higher-level system controller is essential for the coordinated control of charging and discharging processes. Use in stationary energy storage systems

In particular, the modules are designed for stationary energy storage in residential settings. For example, a battery storage system can provide energy at a later time. Solar power generated during high-yield hours of the day can be stored and used during periods of higher consumption. In addition, load shifting and peak shaving are considered possible applications for such storage systems. With an IP20 protection rating, the housing is not designed for unprotected outdoor use.
