The Victron Multi RS19 Solar 48/6000/100-450/100 (MPN: PMN482602000) combines an inverter, battery charger, 50 A transfer switch, and two MPPT solar charge controllers in a single 19-inch rack-mount unit. This combination unit is designed for stationary 48 V systems with a battery, photovoltaic array, and optional utility grid or generator connection. Hybrid, standby, off-grid, and generator modes enable integration into various power supply configurations.
Key features of the Multi RS19 Solar
- Continuous inverter power output ranging from 4,800 W at 46 V to 5,300 W at 52 V and 25 °C
- 9 kW peak power for 3 seconds and 7 kW for 4 minutes
- Two independent MPPT trackers with a total DC solar charging capacity of 6 kW
- PowerControl and PowerAssist for limiting and supplementing the available AC input power
- Integrated display, Bluetooth, and configuration via VictronConnect
- VE.Direct, VE.Can, and BMS-Can for system communication
- Single-phase or three-phase operation with one unit per phase
Two separate MPPT trackers for the solar system
The two independent MPPT trackers each handle up to 3 kW, for a combined maximum of 6 kW DC solar charging power. Each tracker has its own PV string connection with MC4 connectors. Separate trackers facilitate the integration of module arrays with different orientations or that are subject to varying levels of shading at different times. The controller continuously adjusts the operating point of the connected solar modules so that the available PV power can be utilized under the respective irradiance and temperature conditions. The device’s maximum PV open-circuit voltage is 450 V. Additionally, the PV voltage must not exceed eight times the set battery float charge voltage. For example, with a battery voltage of 50 V, this results in a system-specific limit of 400 V. Both conditions must be taken into account when designing the string configuration.
Charging from PV and AC Sources
The battery can be charged via the two integrated MPPT trackers as well as via a connected AC source. Under the defined rated conditions, the maximum charging current from the AC input is 88 A. The combined charging current from AC and PV is limited to 100 A. The three-stage charging process consists of constant-current, constant-voltage, and trickle-charging phases. Charging voltages and other parameters can be configured to match the battery system in use. For regulated lithium batteries, communication with the respective BMS must be technically approved and correctly configured.
Hybrid, Standby, Off-Grid, and Generator Operation
In hybrid mode , excess PV energy can be stored in a battery and made available again when power demand increases. In backup mode, the system supplies suitable loads via the battery and inverter in the event of an AC source failure. Off-grid operation is possible, as is combination with a generator. The unit can also be operated without a battery as an AC-coupled PV inverter. The battery, backup, and charging functions are not available in this operating mode. Full ESS functionality is not supported for all grid codes and installations. Suitability for grid-connected storage systems must therefore be verified based on the intended location and current Victron system approvals.
Configuration and System Communication
Operating data for the battery, inverter, and solar charging can be viewed on the integrated display or via Bluetooth in the VictronConnect app. VictronConnect can also be used to adjust the approved device and charging parameters. VE.Can is available for connection to a GX device. VE.Direct can be used, for example, with a GlobalLink 520 or, with the appropriate accessories, for access via a Windows computer. The BMS-Can connection supports regulated batteries with the appropriate CAN bus BMS-LV protocol. Special connection requirements apply to systems with a GX device or multiple devices. The sizing of the battery, DC cabling, fuses, and PV strings must be tailored to the possible charging, discharging, and short-circuit currents. Installation, configuration, and commissioning must be performed by appropriately qualified technical personnel.
