The Victron Multiplus C 24/2000/40 (MPN CMP242160000) is a combination unit consisting of a 24V 1300W sine wave inverter and a battery charger. The permanently integrated battery charger delivers an impressive 70A, allowing even large batteries to be fully charged quickly when shore power or grid power is available. The 24V pure sine wave voltage converter built into the Multiplus converts power from your battery into 230V AC. Thanks to the true sine wave, the power quality is perfectly suited even for sensitive electronic devices. Since it features not only an inverter and charger but also a lightning-fast 16A transfer switch, it is an ideal inverter for use in RVs, boats, or yachts, as well as for grid-tied uninterruptible power supply (UPS) applications in the event of grid fluctuations or power outages. It is also suitable for use in grid-tied self-consumption systems that draw power from the utility only when battery power is insufficient, or as a UPS solution where the Multiplus kicks in if power from the utility suddenly fails, thus ensuring an uninterrupted power supply.

Key Features of the Multiplus C 24/1600/40

  • 1300W continuous power and 3000W peak power, for 24V battery voltage
  • Combination unit consisting of an inverter with a transfer switch and a 40A battery charger
  • Delivers the purest 230V sine wave voltage and a clean 50Hz frequency
  • VE.Bus communication port provides extensive options for networking, system integration, configuration, and control of Victron Multiplus devices.
  • Supports three-phase operation (requires 3 identical units of the same model)
  • Multiplus units can be connected in parallel; up to 6 units can be connected in parallel, significantly increasing system power when needed
  • 2 AC outputs starting with the Multiplus 3000 and larger models. The second output can then be used, for example, to connect devices that should only run when grid power is available
  • The PowerControl function allows operation with limited generator power as well as restricted shore power or grid power
  • The PowerAssist function enables “power boosting” of generators and shore power support when needed
  • Can be used as a UPS solution for uninterruptible power supply
  • Can be used for grid-connected self-consumption systems that draw power from the utility grid only when battery capacity is insufficient or other programmable events have occurred
  • Compatible with numerous Victron control and display panels
  • Three-phase operation possible with identical MultiPlus inverters

Significant power expansion possible

In addition to parallel connection, three units of the same model can also be configured for a three-phase output. But that’s not all: Up to six sets of three units can be connected in parallel to achieve a massive 75 kW / 90 kVA inverter capacity and over 2,000 A charging capacity (calculated using the 5000 series version).

PowerControl and PowerAssist

The MultiPlus is a very powerful battery charger. As a result, it draws a significant amount of current from the generator or shore power supply (nearly 10 A per 5 kVA Multi at 230 VAC). The Multi Control remote control panel can be used to set the maximum amount of current that can be drawn from the grid or generator. The MultiPlus then takes other connected AC loads into account and uses only the “remaining” current for charging. This prevents the generator or shore power connection from being overloaded. This feature takes the PowerControl principle to a new level. It enables the MultiPlus to support underpowered alternative power sources. Load peaks often occur only for a limited period of time. In such cases, the MultiPlus ensures that insufficient shore power or generator output is immediately compensated for by energy from the battery.

Backup System and System Configuration

The MultiPlus can be used with both off-grid and grid-connected PV systems, as well as with other alternative energy systems. Software is available to detect a grid outage. If settings on a single unit need to be changed, this can be done within a few minutes using a DIP switch configuration procedure. Parallel and three-phase systems can be configured using the VE.Bus Quick Configure and VE.Bus System Configurator software.

Monitoring and Control

Several options are available: battery monitor, Multi Control Panel, Ve.Net Blue Power Panel, Color Control Panel, smartphone or tablet (Bluetooth Smart), laptop or computer (USB or RS232). Victron Ethernet Remote, Victron Global Remote, and the Color Control Panel enable remote maintenance and monitoring of the MultiPlus. Additionally, system data can be stored and viewed free of charge on the VRM (Victron Remote Management) website. If systems equipped with a Color Control Panel are connected to the Ethernet, they can be accessed and settings can be changed remotely.
