The Offgridtec 3-way solar connector junction boxes (8-01-010335) are used to connect 3 modules in parallel. Their design is identical to that of the 2-way junction boxes; however, using these connectors can save costs because they allow you to connect 3 modules in parallel instead of 2.

What does parallel connection mean?
In a parallel connection, the positive and negative wires are bundled at a single output. This configuration increases the current while keeping the voltage constant.
Practical example: You want to connect three 100-watt (Imp = 5.56 A, Vmp = 17.8 V) solar modules to a charge controller with a 20 A rating and a maximum input voltage of 30 V DC. To ensure you do not exceed the allowed input voltage, you must wire the modules in parallel—positive to positive and negative to negative.
If you now measure the string, you should be able to measure the following values under ideal lighting conditions: Imp = 16.68 A and Vmp = 17.8 V. This means your solar configuration is a perfect match for the charge controller.
