What does parallel connection mean?

In a parallel connection, the positive and negative wires are bundled at a single output. This configuration increases the current while keeping the voltage constant.
Practical example: You want to connect 3 x 100W (Imp=5.56A, Vmp=17.8V) solar modules to a charge controller with a 20A rating and a max. input voltage of 30V DC. To ensure you do not exceed the allowed input voltage, you must wire the modules in parallel. That is, positive to positive and negative to negative.
If you now measure the string, you should be able to measure the following values under ideal lighting conditions: Imp=16.68A and Vmp=17.8V. This means your solar configuration is a perfect match for the charge controller.
