How does a balcony power plant work?

Our balcony power plant offers a simple and efficient solution for generating your own electricity. It consists of four ultra-light solar modules, each with 200W, and a Hoymiles 800W 2T micro inverter with integrated WiFi. Installation is quick and easy: the inverter is attached to the solar modules, connected using solar connectors, and then the AC cable is plugged in. Your household grid primarily uses the solar power generated. If necessary, additional power is drawn from the public grid. You also have the option of adding a battery system to store excess energy and avoid wasting any.

The Offgridtec Balcony Solar Module Set consists of two 200W solar modules, each of which operates with monocrystalline solar cells and a remarkable efficiency of 22.7%. HMS-800W-2T micro inverter

The inverter from Hoymiles is the perfect solution for a balcony power plant. In addition to the integrated industrial-grade WiFi module mentioned here, the compact lightweight device (only 3.2 kg) is ideal for solar power production with an output of 320 to 540+W per connection. As with all other micro inverters from Hoymiles, it is suitable for long operating hours and a wide range of PV module applications, as its start voltage is very low (only 22V) and the DC input range of the operating voltage (16-60V) is extremely wide.

Balcony power plants in Germany

There is currently no law or regulation in Germany governing the generation of solar power for purely personal use. The maximum limit of 800W AC PV power is a reserve value which, according to the current VDE standard, can be fed into an existing power outlet circuit in a house without overloading it. There are no specifications for independent circuits without additional load.
All electrical installations should be carried out in accordance with VDE standards. However, the operation of a balcony power plant via a standard Schuko socket is not prohibited in principle. Registration with the Federal Network Agency is mandatory. However, there are no known cases of fines for failure to register balcony power plants, nor are there any insurmountable problems with grid operators. Compliance with and implementation of standards and obligations is the responsibility of the plant operator.
