The GroBoost-X from Growatt. The smart solution for maximizing your solar energy. With the GroBoost-X, you can use excess solar energy even more effectively to efficiently heat your hot water storage tank or space heaters. Just like with its predecessor, this allows you to significantly increase your solar system’s self-consumption—for example, by using solar power exclusively for all water heating in the summer. The GroBoost-X builds on the proven concept and introduces numerous improvements that make your energy management even more flexible, intelligent, and convenient.

What’s new and improved about the GroBoost-X?

• Independent internet access: Unlike its predecessor, the GroBoost-X does not require an additional control unit for online connectivity. It can communicate directly with the internet – this simplifies integration into the smart home and makes updates and remote monitoring even more convenient.
• Optimized communication: The new wireless CT communication (GroSense Wireless CT) ensures even more precise and dynamic power control. This allows the GroBoost-X to react faster and more efficiently to fluctuating PV yields and further maximize self-consumption.
• Greater flexibility: In addition to traditional hot water heating, the GroBoost-X now also supports advanced scenarios—such as integration with battery storage systems or flexible room heating across up to three zones.
• Advanced Control & Protection: Three independent power outputs and support for up to three PT1000 temperature sensors enable even more customized control. New protection features, such as temperature and dry-run protection, ensure greater safety.
• Improved user-friendliness: Thanks to app connectivity, 3 LED indicators, and a USB data logger, operation and monitoring are easier than ever before.

Operating Modes

Smart Mode: The GroBoost will operate according to the set time period and temperature, with 5 groups of adjustable time slots available. During Smart Mode, the device operates at its rated power, but the power output of phase L1 is adjustable.
PV Link Mode: The GroBoost can receive real-time energy flow data via the ShineLink system. By defining the execution strategy, it will operate automatically and adjust its output power when a specific amount of power is exported to or imported from the grid, in order to optimally utilize solar energy and maximize self-consumption of solar power. In addition, there is also a thermal protection function to maintain the water temperature during the set time period and at the set temperature point if a power outage occurs or solar energy is insufficient.
Forced Operation Mode: Triggered by manually pressing the button, the GroBoost can be forcibly activated and will continue running until it reaches the maximum temperature (default temperature is 65°C). This is often used in emergencies. For safety reasons, the maximum duration of forced operation mode is set to 2 hours by default.
Advanced Scenarios: Also suitable for use with battery storage systems and for flexible space heating.

Growatt Shine Monitoring Platform

The Growatt monitoring platform can be used with the ShineWiLan-X2 or the GroHome Manager-X. It is available as a smartphone app (for iOS and Android) as well as in a web version. Use of the platform is free of charge. All Growatt products in your possession can be configured and monitored via Shine. Displaying self-consumption and trends is also possible.
