Adaptive 7-stage charging algorithm

The charger uses an intelligent, multi-stage charging algorithm designed for efficient charging and long-term battery maintenance. The seven operating phases are: testing, constant current, constant voltage, recovery, trickle charging, storage, and repeat. The duration of each phase is adjusted based on the condition of the connected battery. The battery is first charged rapidly to approximately 80%, and the remaining 20% is then charged in a controlled manner according to the selected charging profile.

Several built-in charging modes are available to meet different battery requirements. The 24V version supports the following voltages, among others:

Temperature-compensated charging

When charging lead-acid batteries, it automatically adjusts the charging voltage to the ambient temperature. For the 24V models, temperature compensation is 32 mV/°C. In lithium mode, there is no automatic temperature compensation.

Storage Mode for Extended Storage Periods

For batteries that remain connected to the charger for extended periods, the charger features a special storage mode. Once the charging phases are complete, the voltage is reduced compared to the normal trickle charge. This is intended to reduce the strain on the battery during extended periods of inactivity. A brief top-off charge is performed at regular intervals. This feature is particularly useful, for example, for seasonally used RVs, vehicles, or boats. Storage mode is specifically designed for batteries that remain connected for months at a time while inactive.

Recovery of Fully Discharged Batteries

Another special feature is the recovery function for fully discharged batteries. The charger can attempt to recharge a battery starting at 0V, initially using a low current. As soon as sufficient voltage has built up at the battery terminals, the normal charging cycle resumes. For suitable lead-acid batteries, an optional recovery phase is also available, which can be used, for example, after deep discharge or prolonged insufficient charging.
