Three charging outputs for multiple battery banks
The 24/25(3) model features three mutually isolated charging outputs. Each output can deliver the full rated charging current, provided that the total current draw does not exceed the unit’s maximum current rating. This makes it easy, for example, to charge and maintain service, load, and starter batteries within a single system. The galvanic isolation prevents equalization currents between the connected battery banks.
Adaptive Charging Algorithm for Long Battery Life
The charger operates using an intelligent six-stage charging process consisting of bulk, absorption, recondition, float, storage, and refresh phases. The adaptive charging algorithm automatically adjusts the absorption time to the battery’s state of charge. This ensures the battery is fully charged without exposing it to high charging voltage for an unnecessarily long time. For lead-acid batteries, the storage mode automatically reduces the float voltage after prolonged standby. This reduces corrosion on the plates, minimizes water loss, and helps reduce sulfation. Lithium batteries are charged using a specially adapted charging profile.
Bluetooth and VictronConnect
The built-in Bluetooth module allows for full configuration of the charger via the free VictronConnect app. Among other things, you can set the battery type, charging parameters, maximum charging current, and numerous other settings. Additionally, you can monitor the state of charge, output voltage, current draw, and charging history at any time. Firmware updates can also be installed wirelessly.
VE.Direct and VE.Smart Networking
The Smart IP43 Charger can be integrated into larger Victron energy systems via the built-in VE.Direct interface. The device also supports VE.Smart Networking. Using Bluetooth, the charger exchanges information such as battery voltage, temperature, and current with compatible devices like Smart Battery Sense, SmartShunt, or BMV battery monitors. This enables more precise charge control and improves charging accuracy, particularly over longer cable runs. Multiple Smart IP43 chargers can also work together in sync.
Temperature Compensation and Protection Functions
For lead-acid batteries, the charger automatically adjusts the charging voltage to the battery temperature. This prevents both undercharging at low temperatures and overcharging at higher temperatures. In addition, the unit features comprehensive protection functions against reverse polarity, short circuits, overheating, and output overload. An adjustable low-current mode also allows for the safe charging of small batteries with a reduced charging current.
Flexible Applications
In addition to standard battery charging, it can also be operated as a regulated DC power supply. In this mode, the device supplies connected 24V loads with a stable output voltage, even when no battery is connected. A programmable relay and a remote on/off input are also available for integration into more complex power and automation systems.
