Victron SmartShunt 300A/50mV battery monitor

The SmartShunt 300A from Victron Energy (MPN SHU050130050) is an all-in-one battery monitor without its own display – instead, your smartphone or tablet serves as the display, connecting via Bluetooth using the VictronConnect app. This gives you access to important parameters such as the state of charge, remaining operating time, historical data, and much more at any time. Alternatively, you can connect the SmartShunt to a GX device, such as a Cerbo GX or Color Control GX, and read information from it. The connection is made via a VE.Direct cable. The SmartShunt is an ideal alternative to the BMV battery monitor, especially for systems that require battery monitoring but prefer less cabling and clutter.

Why monitor batteries?

Batteries are used in a wide range of applications, mostly to store energy for future use. However, the actual amount of energy stored cannot be read directly from the battery. Factors such as undercharging or overcharging, deep discharge, excessive charging or discharging currents, and high ambient temperatures can shorten the battery's service life. An advanced battery monitor allows you to monitor these factors and provides important feedback to you as the user.
