The Smartsolar 100/20-48 from Victron Energy (MPN SCC110020160R) is an MPPT solar charge controller with a maximum charging current of 20A for charging 12V, 24V, and 48V batteries. Unlike the Bluesolar version, the Smart version has integrated Bluetooth, which eliminates the need to purchase a Bluetooth dongle. In addition, a VE.Direct connection is still available for communication with other Victron devices such as the Color Control GX or the MPPT Control.
The integrated Bluetooth in the SmartSolar series is the wireless solution for setting up, monitoring, and updating the controller using Apple and Android smartphones, tablets, or other devices. The optional MPPT WireBox-S 100-20 from Victron Energy is the ideal addition to your SmartSolar charge controller. It securely covers the cable entries and connection terminals of the controller, protecting them from external influences and contact.

Ultra-fast maximum power point tracking
Especially when the sky is overcast and the light intensity is constantly changing, an extremely fast MPPT controller improves energy yield by up to 30% compared to PWM charge controllers and by up to 10% compared to slower MPPT controllers.
Intelligent load output
Deep discharge of the battery can be prevented by connecting all loads to the load output. The load output disconnects the loads when the battery has been discharged to a specified voltage value. Alternatively, an algorithm for intelligent battery management can be selected: see BatteryLife.
The load output is short-circuit-proof.
Battery Life: intelligent battery management
If the solar charge controller is unable to charge the battery to its full capacity within one day, the status of the battery constantly switches back and forth between "partially charged" and "end of discharge." This operating mode (no regular full charging) damages a lead-acid battery within a few weeks or months.
The Battery Life Algorithm monitors the battery's state of charge and, if necessary, raises the threshold value for disconnecting the load day by day (i.e., the load is disconnected earlier) until the energy gained is sufficient to charge the battery to almost 100%. From this point on, the threshold value for disconnecting the load is modulated so that the charge reaches almost 100% about once a week.

1x user manual
Note
The device is labeled 48V – the data sheet for the 48V version is printed on the side of the device packaging. Contrary to this confusing information on the device itself, it is suitable for 12V and 24V as described – and now also for 48V battery banks. Until recently, these were separate devices – one for 12V/24V and one for 48V – but these two have now been combined and the printing on the housing and packaging has been taken from the 48V version
