Victron SmartSolar MPPT 250/100-MC4 charge controller VE.Can

The Smartsolar MPPT 250/100-MC4 from Victron Energy (MPN SCC125110310) is part of the latest generation of smart solar controllers from the premium Dutch manufacturer. Ultra-fast power tracking and automatic power point detection in partial shading are just two of the many highlights of this new class of devices. In addition, this model supports parallel operation with other controllers of the same type.

Compared to the Smartsolar 150/..... series, the 250/.... series can handle a maximum PV input voltage of 250V. This is also one of the reasons why the 250 series of solar charge controllers was able to increase efficiency by another 1 percent to a total of 99%, thereby setting new industry standards. Another new feature is the optionally available LCD display, which can be easily clipped onto the SmartSolar 250/100-MC4 as needed. Automatic detection of the Maximum Power Point (MPP) under partial shading

In the event of partial shading, there may be two or more maximum power points (MPP) on the current-voltage curve. Conventional MPPT controllers tend to lock onto a local MPP. However, this may not be the optimal MPP. The SmartSolar controller’s innovative algorithm will always maximize energy yield by locking onto the optimal MPP.

Especially under overcast skies, when light intensity is constantly changing, an extremely fast MPPT controller improves energy yield by up to 30% compared to PWM charge controllers and by up to 10% compared to slower MPPT controllers.

Optional LCD display available for retrofitting

Installation is as simple as plugging the display into the SmartSolar. The display allows for easy configuration of the controller via button input and also provides all key performance data at a glance.
