Customized charging cycles for different battery types

For flooded lead-acid, AGM, and gel batteries, the charger uses an adaptive seven-stage charging algorithm. The duration of the constant-voltage phase is adjusted based on the previous charging history. The unit then switches to trickle charging and, if connected for an extended period, to storage mode with reduced voltage. A dedicated four-stage charging algorithm is available for LiFePO4 batteries. The selected charging mode must match the charging specifications and the capacity of the connected battery. Lithium batteries must not be charged when the battery temperature is below 0 °C.

Configuration and Monitoring with VictronConnect

The Blue Smart IP65 Charger can be connected to the VictronConnect app via the built-in Bluetooth interface. The app displays the current charge status, voltage, and charging current. Additionally, you can select charging profiles, adjust settings, view previous charging cycles, and perform firmware updates. The basic charging modes—Normal, High, and Lithium-Ion—can also be selected directly using the MODE button on the device. For compatible lead-acid batteries, a recovery phase intended only for occasional use can also be activated.

Trickle Charging, Power Supply, and Flexible Connections

Storage mode is intended for batteries that remain connected to the charger for an extended period. Via VictronConnect, the unit can also be configured as a DC power supply with a constant output voltage. The permanently attached DC cable features a replaceable connector for the included battery clamps or M8 ring terminals. Mounting brackets allow for permanent vertical installation. For permanent installations, a suitable overcurrent protection device must be installed as close to the battery as possible. The charger requires a ventilated location on a non-flammable surface and must not be operated directly above a battery or in an enclosed battery compartment.
