Optimized charging profiles for lead-acid and LiFePO4

The adaptive charging algorithm adjusts the duration of the constant-voltage phase based on the previous charging history. This ensures the battery is fully charged without exposing it to elevated charging voltage for an unnecessarily long time. For AGM, gel, and wet batteries, the Normal and High profiles are available. The separate Lithium mode uses a four-stage charging algorithm for LiFePO4 batteries. At 5 A, the charger is suitable for lead-acid batteries starting at 17 Ah and LiFePO4 batteries starting at 10 Ah. For smaller batteries, the low-current mode reduces the charging current to 2 A. This allows lead-acid batteries starting at 7 Ah and LiFePO4 batteries starting at 4 Ah to be charged. In maximum charging mode, the charger is designed for battery capacities up to 50 Ah.

Settings and Charging Status via Bluetooth

The VictronConnect app can be used to configure the charging mode, charging current limit, and advanced parameters. Among other things, the app displays battery voltage, charging current, and the current operating status. Charging histories make it easy to monitor past charging cycles, while firmware updates can also be performed wirelessly. The charger also offers protection against reverse polarity, short circuits, and overheating.

Trickle Charging, Recovery, and Power Supply

Once fully charged, the device switches to the trickle charge or storage mode. This allows a connected battery to be kept charged over an extended period. An optional recovery function is available for deeply discharged lead-acid batteries. In the configurable power supply mode, the device can also supply loads with a constant DC voltage, either with or without a connected battery. Lithium batteries must not be charged when the battery temperature is below 0 °C.
