Victron VE.Bus BMS V2 Battery Management System
The Victron Energy VE.Bus BMS V2 (MPN: BMS300200200) is the next generation of the VE.Bus BMS for Victron Lithium Smart Batteries (LFP-Smart) 12.8V and 25.6V. Each individual cell of a LiFePO4 battery must be protected against overvoltage, undervoltage, and overtemperature. This is precisely the task performed by the VE.BUS BMS V2. The product is suitable for protecting 12V, 24V, and 48V battery banks and operates in an operating voltage range of 9–70 VDC.
VE-BUS BMS V2 in combination with Victron LiFePO4 batteries
Victron LiFePO4 batteries have built-in cell balancing, temperature and voltage control (abbreviation: BTV). They are connected to the VE.Bus BMS V2 via two M8 round plug cable sets. The BTVs of several batteries can be linked together. They can be connected in series, in parallel, or both in series and in parallel, allowing a battery bank of 12V, 24V, or 48V to be designed. Up to 20 batteries can be used in a single system, resulting in a maximum energy storage capacity of 84kWh in a 12V system and 102kWh in a 24V and 48V system. For further details, please refer to the technical documentation for our LiFePO4 battery.
Core tasks of the Victron VE.Bus BMS V2
- Specially designed for use with Victron Lithium Battery Smart 12.8 V & 25.6 V batteries.
- Communicates directly with the lithium battery via the battery's M8 round connector cables
- Shuts down or disconnects VE.Bus inverters or inverters/chargers via VE.Bus and other loads via the "Disconnect load" terminal in the event of cell undervoltage
- Shut down or disconnect VE.Bus inverters or inverters/chargers via VE.Bus, VE.Direct and VE.Can solar chargers via a GX device and other chargers via the "Disconnect charging" terminal in the event of cell overvoltage, under-temperature, or over-temperature.
Difference to VE.Bus BMS
The VE.Bus BMS V2 was developed specifically for use in systems with GX devices and is therefore ideal for ESS or backup applications with a battery capacity of up to 84kWh (12V) or 102kWh (24V/48V).
In addition, the BMS V2 has a remote contact for remote control (ON/OFF).
Communication with VE.Bus products
MultiPlus, Quattro, or Phoenix inverters are connected to the "MultiPlus/Quattro" port using a standard RJ45 UTP cable.
The BMS deactivates inversion in the event of cell undervoltage and charging in the event of cell overvoltage or overtemperature
Communication with remote control devices
A GX device (e.g., Cerbo GX), a Digital Multi Control (DMC) panel, or a VE.Bus Smart Dongle (including any combination) can be connected to the BMS via the "Remote Control Panel" connection. This accessory can be used in combination with the BMS to remotely control the switching status of the VE.Bus inverter or the inverter/charger (On / Off / Charger only)
Terminals for additional inputs and outputs
The BMS has a special power output (GX-Power) for a GX device and an additional power input (Aux-In) for an external DC source, e.g., a mains adapter. In the event of a system shutdown, the GX device continues to be supplied with power via the auxiliary power input or is disconnected from the mains to prevent further discharge of the battery
