Why 150 V?
The higher the allowed module voltage, the more modules you can connect in series. With three modules in series, only one-third of the current flows through the supply line—ideal if the modules are located farther away, such as on the roof of a vacation home. Make sure that the open-circuit voltage of all modules in series remains below 150 V, even in cold weather.
Tr or MC4?
Tr models have screw terminals to which you connect the solar cables directly. MC4 models have connectors for the module cables. Electrically, both are the same—choose whichever fits your wiring. You can cover the screw terminals with a WireBox from the charge controller accessories.
FAQ – BlueSolar MPPT 150/35 to 150/70
Can I use this to charge a 48V battery?
Yes. All controllers in the 150-V class charge 12V, 24V, and 48V batteries. Before the first charge, check in the app to make sure the battery voltage and charging profile are set correctly.
How many modules should I connect in series?
Divide 150 V by the open-circuit voltage of a module and factor in a margin for cold weather. For standard modules with an open-circuit voltage of around 40 V, three modules will usually fit in series.
Can I run multiple controllers on a single battery?
Yes. Each controller gets its own module array and charges the same battery. This allows you to expand a system piece by piece.
Can I use this to charge a lithium battery?
Yes. Use the VictronConnect app to select the LiFePO4 profile. For Victron lithium batteries, the BMS also controls the charger.
