Model Overview
- SmartSolar MPPT 150/85: up to 150 V module voltage, 85 A charging current, up to 1,200 Wp at 12 V, up to 2,400 Wp at 24 V, and up to 4,900 Wp at 48 V.
- SmartSolar MPPT 150/100: up to 150 V module voltage, 100 A charging current, up to 1,450 Wp at 12 V, up to 2,900 Wp at 24 V, and up to 5,800 Wp at 48 V.
Both are available with screw terminals (Tr) or MC4 connectors; the VE.Can version also includes two VE.Can ports for networking with other Victron devices.
For large systems
With up to 100 A of charging current and 150 V input voltage, these controllers can handle solar arrays of several kilowatts. You can connect multiple modules in series, which keeps the current in the supply line low and allows you to use thinner cables. Make sure that the open-circuit voltage of all modules connected in series remains below 150 V, even in cold weather.
Setup and Monitoring
Bluetooth is built-in. In the free VictronConnect app, you can select the charging profile, view power output, charging current, and battery voltage, and access the power output history for the past few days. With a Cerbo GX for operation and system monitoring, you can also view these values remotely.
Compatible Accessories
The WireBox-XL covers the connection terminals and secures the cables. You can find it and other accessories, such as VE.Direct cables, in the charge controller accessories section.
FAQ – SmartSolar MPPT 150/85 and 150/100
150/85 or 150/100—which one is right for you?
Divide the module power by the battery voltage. 4,000 Wp connected to a 48V battery results in approximately 83 A—the 150/85 is sufficient for this. If you plan to add more modules later, go with the 150/100 right away.
What’s the difference between TR and MC4?
TR models have screw terminals for the solar cables, while MC4 models have connectors for the module cables. Electrically, both are the same.
Why do I need the VE.Can version?
If you want to network multiple controllers or other Victron devices via VE.Can, such as with a Cerbo GX or a Lynx Smart BMS. For a single controller, the version without VE.Can is sufficient.
Can I use it to charge a lithium battery?
Yes. In the VictronConnect app, select the LiFePO4 profile. With Victron lithium batteries, the BMS can also control the controller.
Can I run multiple controllers on a single battery?
Yes. Each controller gets its own array and charges the same battery. This allows you to expand a large system step by step.
