Charging the Onboard and Starter Batteries Simultaneously
In a motorhome or on a boat, there are usually two batteries: one for starting the engine and one for on-board electrical loads. The PWM-DUO charges both from the same solar system. This ensures that the starter battery remains fully charged even during extended periods of inactivity.
Like all PWM controllers, the PWM-DUO is suitable for systems where the module and battery voltages match. For larger systems, you’ll find MPPT controllers in the Victron MPPT Solar Charge Controllers category.

Why do I need a DUO controller?
If you want to charge two separate batteries from a single solar system without permanently connecting them—typically a starter battery and a service battery.
Can’t I just use two controllers instead?
Yes, but then you’d need two panel arrays. The DUO controller distributes the output from a single panel across both batteries.
