Victron Skylla-i 24/80 (3) Battery Charger 24V 80A
The Skylla-i 24/80 (3) from Victron Energy (MPN SKI024080002) is a powerful 24V battery charger for larger battery banks. It has 3 charging outputs, with a maximum charging current of 80A that can be freely distributed among the outputs. With the Skylla-i 24/80 (3), you can charge all common lead batteries and, of course, modern lithium-ion batteries.
flexible technology and robust construction
The epoxy powder-coated aluminum housing with drip protection and stainless steel brackets can withstand even the harshest environmental conditions: heat, humidity, and salty air. An acrylic coating provides optimum protection for the circuit boards against corrosion. Temperature sensors ensure that the electrical components are always operated within the specified limits. In extreme environmental conditions, the output current is automatically reduced if necessary.
In addition to a CAN bus (NMEA2000) interface, a rotary knob, DIP switches, and potentiometers are also available to adapt the charging algorithm to a specific battery and its conditions of use. A complete overview of the various options can be found in the manual.

the most important features of the Skylla-i 24/80 (3)
Synchronized parallel operation
Multiple chargers can be synchronized using the CAN bus interface. This is achieved by simply connecting the chargers to each other via RJ45 UTP cables. Please refer to the manual for further details.
The correct charge amount for a lead-acid battery: adjusted constant voltage time
If only weak discharges occur, the constant voltage time is kept short to prevent overcharging of the battery. After a deep discharge, the constant voltage phase is automatically extended to ensure that the battery is fully charged.
Preventing damage from excessive gas generation: Battery protection mode
To reduce the charging time, the aim is to achieve the highest possible charging current in conjunction with a high constant voltage. However, to prevent excessive gas generation towards the end of the constant current phase, the Skylla-i limits the rate of voltage increase after the gassing voltage has been reached.
Less maintenance and aging when the battery is idle: storage mode
Storage mode is always activated when there has been no discharge within 24 hours. In storage mode, the charge retention voltage is then reduced to 2.2 V/cell (26.4 V for a 24 V battery) to minimize gas development and corrosion on the positive plates. Once a week, the voltage is increased back to the constant voltage threshold to "refresh" the battery. This achieves a kind of equalization charge that prevents electrolyte stratification and sulfation—the two main causes of premature battery failure.
To extend battery life: temperature compensation
A battery temperature sensor is supplied with every Skylla-i device. The temperature sensor ensures that the charging voltage decreases as the battery temperature rises. This is particularly important for gel batteries or when high temperature fluctuations are to be expected.
Battery voltage sensor
To compensate for voltage losses due to cable resistance, the Skylla-i has a voltage sensor in the charging circuit so that the battery always receives the correct charging current.
Suitable for AC and DC power supply (AC-DC and DC-DC operation)
The chargers can also be operated with a DC power supply.
Use as a power source
Due to its perfectly stabilized output voltage, the Skylla-i 24/80 (3) charger can be used as a power source when no batteries or large buffer capacitors are available.
optional remote control panel and CAN bus connection
The Skylla-i 24/80 has an optional control panel that offers extensive control options for the Skylla-i. The CAN bus connection also allows the battery charger to be integrated into larger system networks that need to be centrally monitored and controlled.
